Indoor Air Quality

Houses are built nowadays to be much tighter than before to conserve energy. Indoor air can be contaminated by dirt and pollutants in forced air systems, cleaning chemicals, smoking, mold, air fresheners, VOC from furniture and carpets, pet dander and poop, building materials—etc. Long exposure to indoor pollutants may cause a miscellany of health symptoms and aggravate allergies.

Outdoor air may enter (infiltrate) or exit (exfiltrate) the house naturally – through open windows, loose construction joints, from windows and doors peripheries—etc) or mechanically- such as exhaust kitchen hoods and bathroom fans.

So the best solutions to improve I.A.Q. are to mitigate indoor pollutants sources, installation of air cleaners and purifiers and heat/ energy recovery ventilation (HRV/ERV’s).
